How to get to Toledo City from Cebu City.
Guide5 min read

Toledo City is on the western side of Cebu Island, roughly 50 kilometers from Cebu City by road. The Transcentral Highway climbs out of Cebu City, over the mountains and down the Toledo side. You can make the trip by bus, V-hire, taxi or your own car, and each one differs in time, cost and comfort.
By public bus
The bus is the cheapest and most common way to get from Cebu City to Toledo City. Air-conditioned Ceres Liner buses leave from the Cebu South Bus Terminal, take the Transcentral Highway and stop at the Toledo City terminal near Poblacion. Plan on roughly two hours, depending on traffic and weather.
Buses run often through the day. If you're leaving early in the morning or late in the evening, check the current schedule at the terminal first. Ask about the fare there too, since it changes.
By V-hire (van)
A V-hire is a passenger van, and it's the faster public option. Pickup points in Cebu City depend on the operator and include the Cebu South Bus Terminal and Robinsons Galleria, so check where yours leaves from before you go. The trip takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic.
V-hires have no fixed schedule and leave once they are full, so get there early if you need to be in Toledo by a set time. Check the fare at the terminal on the day.
By taxi or ride-hailing
A taxi or ride-hailing car can take you too. Toledo is outside a Cebu-based driver's usual area, so expect a flat rate instead of the meter, and agree on it before you set off.
Ride-hailing apps can sometimes take a trip to Toledo, but cars aren't always available. If there are three or four of you, sharing a taxi can cost about the same as the V-hire and gets you door to door, so compare current fares before you decide.
By private car
Driving yourself gives you the most freedom. Take Osmeña Boulevard to the start of the Transcentral Highway, then go up the mountain, over the ridge and down into Toledo. It takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on road conditions.
The mountain stretch has lots of curves and changes in grade, so take it slow, especially in rain or fog. Parking in Poblacion is easy: there are lots at the commercial buildings, and street parking isn't hard to find.
By ferry (from Negros Occidental)
Coming from Negros Occidental, take the ferry from San Carlos City straight to the Toledo Pier in Poblacion. Several operators run the route: Lite Shipping (roll-on/roll-off, around 2 hours), FastCat (around 1 hour) and EB Aznar Shipping (around 45 minutes on the faster vessels). There are several sailings a day.
It's the popular way between the two islands, and much faster than going the long way through Cebu City. Check the current fare with the operator at the pier, since it depends on the class and changes over time.
Getting around Toledo
The bus terminal and the Toledo Pier are both near Poblacion, and local transport goes out to the barangays from there. If you need food or other things, order on Toleds and a Toledo rider brings it to your door.
